I will meet you at the airport in Surabaya, (or Jakarta if you wish to pay an extra £40 for national tickets), transport you to your accomodation and remain available at all times to answer any questions that you may have. I can also arrange to have flowers or any other gifts delivered to your loved one. Purchase a round trip ticket to Jakarta, (from around $850 from the USA), buy a local ticket Jakarta/Surabaya when you arrive for about $20. Our £750 fee (British Pounds) covers the services mentioned above for up to fourteen days and you are on your way to heaven. ABOUT INDONESIA
| Do not worry about visiting Indonesia. In spite of what you may have been reading, the government of Indonesia encourages visitors and believe us, there is much more danger in visiting most American cities than you will encounter in this country. Children play in the streets without fear of abduction. Young girls walk at night without the threat of being attacked. We defy you to find people who are more friendly and helpful than those that you will meet here. Beautiful girls will smile and wave to you whenever they see you. Everyone will treat you with respect and friendliness. There are however some aspects of the culture that are different and they are as follows: |
INDONESIAN CULTURE
| Asians usually resent being touched on the head as it is regarded as the seat of the soul and is therefore sacred. In traditional Javanese culture, a lesser person should not have their head above that of a senior person, so you may sometimes see Javanese duck their heads when greeting someone, or walk past with dropped shoulders as a mark of respect. If you are a lefty, you may have a problem. When handing over or receiving things you should always use the right hand as the left hand is used in the toilet! Many local restaurants do not use cutlery and so, when eating, it is also custumary to use the right hand. However to show respect to an important or elderly person, you can hand them something using both hands. Try not to have your hands on your hip while chatting to someone as this is considered impolite and sign of contempt. The Western method of beckoning, with the index finger crooked upward will be considered very rude!
The correct way to beckon to someone is with the hand extended and a downward waving motion of all the fingers kind of like waving goodbye. Indonesians are mainly Muslims and they assume that all Westerners are Christians. You will probably be questioned about marriage as all Indonesians believe that everyone wishes to be married. Divorce in Indonesia carries a little shame, although many ladies will not hold it against you if you yourself have been divorced. Remember that you should always remove footware before entering a mosque, and it is also customary to take your shoes off before entering someone's house but if you are wearing sneakers, the owner will probably ask you to keep them on. |
