Well those cows certainly look healthy and happy! I'm just struggling with some of the details now. I don't have significant "extra" money lying around but can borrow against my home equity at 7-8%. The Ikobo fees are 4-8% depending on amount, plus a $12.00 charge to ship the Visa card to you. Just for example lets pick a small amount, say $500, my bank gets $40 because I borrowed the money, and Ikobo gets $20 in fees plus a $12.00 delivery charge. So you only get $428 to work with. If that appreciates 50% to $642 in one year, then you send it back to me and I lose another $35 dollars or so in Ikobo fees. This is assuming no fluctuation in the exchange rate. When all the dust has settled, I end up with $610 which is around 22% real profit. Still not bad, but a lot less exciting than 50% I'm also concerned whether some types of money transfers get reported to the IRS here in the states? If they do, I will be taxed and lose another third of that 22% !! Sending money safely and cheaply is the real challenge. I'm pretty sure a bank transfer will cost more than Ikobo, but air mail is cheap and I could possibly just send a money order? Do you know if there are fees on your end for cashing a money order? I'll speak with my bank for other suggestions too. Sorry to bother you with so many e-mails, but if we can work out a good way to transfer funds, I may be able to scare up quite a bit of money from friends and family after they see how it works out for me. I have been up at my mothers flat preparing it for the house clearance company to come in and take all her stuff away so her flat can be sold. Was quite depressing really and I was not happy about it - but I just don't have the room to store all her furniture. She does not want it anyway so I have just kept some sentimental items. Dear Sheldon, Long time, no see and all that sort of thing, how are you? Well things have been eventful here. My mother suddenly died and left behind a stack of problems to be solved. I am almost finished sorting things out and I’m completely exhausted. The good side is a gained some extra cash from it all. Now I needed a holiday so I booked myself a flight to Indonesia. I’m using Emirates Airlines as you previously suggested. Due to the short notice it cost approx £600 (more than I wanted to pay but I needed a holiday). I’m sure you remember Aini. I’m still very grateful that you put me in touch with her. We have exchanged many emails, sms and telephone calls. We found we had much in common and we even discussed marriage. I did find out a lot about Indonesia from her too. I thought things were going really well. So I thought I would come over there just to visit her and hence I booked my flight. Now this is where things start to go wrong, Aini doesn’t seem to believe that I’m coming there. I have visions of things really screwing up and I’d be on your doorstep begging for help. My niece is getting married in a few weeks and instead of giving her some boring gift, it would be fun to show her a picture of a cute calf and explain that its actually an investment.
